TURNER FUN DAYS A HUGE SUCCESS IN TURNER

The Fun Day held this past weekend in Turner turned out to be a huge success! The day began with a FLY IN and Lions pancake breakfast. There were only about 6 airplanes that flew in, but they joined up with others who began registering their cars, trucks, bikes, and tractors at the annual car show. Around 90 vehicles were on hand for the viewing. There were old cars, new cars, restored cars and tractors, and an assortment of bikes, both motor and pedal!

The Big Flat Grocery Store organized the event and they served meals to around 440 people, which included burgers and hot dogs. These meals were at a FREE WILL donation, and will be donated back into the community. Those that chose a different route chose fried pickles, nachos, traveling tacos, or pizza from the Border Bar.

At the center of Main Street sat a table under the awning that stored a multitude of gift baskets that were up for silent auction. The money generated from the baskets will be passed along to support local projects and/or organizations in the community. These baskets were donated from businesses and/or individuals. These were greatly appreciated.

Kids enjoyed water slides throughout the day which were rented from the Salsberry Brothers from Malta. The amount of fun could be heard from the laughter all over town. They played hard all day.

Rounding out the day was music from the Wet Weather Band. They played into the evening. Whether you danced or just sat and listened, it was a great evening of no wind and favorable temperatures to just sit and relax after a warm enjoyable day! The band donated their time, but the hat was passed at the close of the day for a free will donation. Thanks to these local musicians for the enjoyable music.

The Big Flat Grocery board of directors are Max Cederberg, Chet Fouts, Dylan Welsh, Shannon Van Voast, and Kristin Jones. Not only should they be hugely commended for their efforts throughout the day, but their family members that also jumped in to help out. It takes a village to put something like this together and it turned out just perfectly!

Store manager, Linda Hutton stated, "We just appreciate the volunteers so much. It couldn't have been done without them. Thanks to everyone who attended. As long as we have the support, we'll keep having the event." Meanwhile store director, Chet Fouts added, " Everyone had a good time! Volunteers, donations, and people locally and neighboring towns made this event possible. Thank you for the support."
