September is “Buy a Bag O’Books” month! Take advantage of the used book sale where you can purchase a grocery sack full of used books for only one dollar.

The library board of trustees will hold their monthly meeting September 21, 4:15 P.M. The members of the board who so willingly volunteer their time are Valerie VanVoast, Teresa Cornell, Lori Owens, Linda Tangen and Jackie Blackbird.

Do you have a library card? September is “Library Card Sign-up Month” and you are encouraged to register for your own library card which provides you with all sorts of valuable services and opportunities. To register you must be sixteen years of age and present a current photo ID, working phone number and mailing address. Stop by the library for more information.

The Book Challenge for September is to read a book that includes a map. We have a selection on display for you to choose from.

The library is proud to host the “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” program. Parents of babies, toddlers and preschool children are invited to register at the library and join the challenge to read 1000 books to their child before he/she enters kindergarten. When the child is registered they will be awarded a free board book. Prizes are earned as goals are met along the way. Contact the library for more information.

“Night of the Living Rez” by Morgan Talty is a collection of stories about what it is like to be Indigenous Penobscot in the twenty-first century and what it means to live, to survive, and to persevere after tragedy.
