Reuben Melvin Kuntz was born to Jacob and Mary Ereaux Kuntz on July 16, 1944, in Harlem, Montana, the eighth of thirteen children. He died on Dec. 20th, at the age of 81, after battling pulmonary fibrosis, a service-related lung disease. Reuben graduated from Harlem High School in 1962 and enlisted in the US Navy. Lacey Marie Pitkanen, 42, passed away on December 29, 2025, in Billings, Montana. She was born on April 14, 1983, in Havre, Montana, to Rance Pitkanen and Karen Pronto. Lacey had a beautiful way of always looking on the bright side of life. She was often laughing and making others laugh, and her contagious laugh could instantly make everything feel lighter. High school basketball returned to the area this past weekend, and there were plenty of exciting games on the slate. For the undefeated Harlem boys, last Friday saw the Wildcats suffer their first loss of the season. In a District 2B showdown in Malta, the Mustangs edged the Wildcats 80-72. After what seemed like a lengthy Christmas break, it was time for the Chinook boys and girls basketball teams to get back on the hardwood. And last Friday night, the Sugarbeeters hosted Box Elder in a battle of former District 9C rivals. In the boys game, things came right down to the end, before Box Elder was able to win 56-51.
