Official Average Number Belonging (ANB) counts were released to school districts in mid-November in order for officials to then begin planning for the 2026-27 school year. Blaine County Library Early last month, Killian Liddle, Bryce Elliot, and Zoe Scofield competed at Milk River Districts in Havre in order to qualify for the Montana State FFA Convention. James LeRoy LaPlante, 91, passed away from natural causes on December 16, 2025 at the Northern Montana Care Center in Havre, Montana. Services will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at the American Lutheran Church in Chinook. Graveside service will be held at Kuper Memorial Cemetery following the service. James (Jim) was born on July 29, 1934 to John Moberg and Jenny Murvang Moberg in Malta, Montana. His little sister, Mert, joined the family two years later on September 7, 1936.... Full story

Albert L. Sutherlin, 92, of Stevensville, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2026, in Hamilton. Born January 7, 1934, in Missoula, Albert was the first child of Glen and Mable Sutherlin. He and his sister Anna Marie were raised on the family dairy farm two miles south of Stevensville on Eastside Highway. What a performance by the Harlem boys basketball team. Last weekend in Malta, the Wildcats not only won the District 2B championship, they steamrolled their way to the title, including a blowout win over the host Malta Mustangs in the championship game. Harlem High School celebrated its senior athletes during Senior Night festivities held February 6, 2026, during the Harlem/Box Elder basketball game. Wrestling seniors Ty Kittson and Emma Klingaman were recognized for their dedication and accomplishments.
