    Local artists and activists have been busy preparing their entries in a statewide public art contest engaging Montana teens and adults in grassroots, on-the-ground drug prevention. Two entrants in the Paint the State contest are from Harlem. Taylor Faulkinberry-Richardson and Michelle Crazy have displayed their artwork and are ready for judging.     Many readers are aware that Kody Farmer, a long time writer for the "Blaine County Journal," has been hospitalized for a couple of months. Readers were surprised to learn that despite being in intensive care at the VA hospital in Salt Lake City Kody's was still writing for the paper. Kody was airlifted from Fort Harrison VA Hospital (in Helena, Montana) on April 22 to the VA Center in Utah. He's been recovering in intensive care since that flight to Salt Lake City more than 70 days ago. Keith...

She graduated from the Skaggs Pharmacy School at the University of Montana in 2006.     Helen E. Mueller 97 of Chinook Montana passed away on June 21st, 2023, at the Northern Montana Care Center in Havre Montana. Helen was born on January 31, 1926, to August and Louise (Huetter) Mueller in Chinook Montana. After graduation from Chinook High School in 1944 she went on to earn a Bachelor of Nursing Degree from Montana State University in 1947.     G. F. (Jerry) Stender (88) passed away of natural causes on June 28, 2023 at the Sweet Memorial Nursing Home. Jerry was born to Otto and Mary (Redmond) Stender on September 17, 1934. The youngest of 5 children, Jerry grew up on a small farm near Dent, MN and attended school in Readington, MN. In 1951 Jerry enlisted in the Marine Corps and served three years in the Korean War.     The Chinook Lion and Harlem swim teams were in Roundup June 24-25, with both teams performing very well. The Lions again secured several High Point Trophies while the Harlem swimmers got quality time in the pool for their up and coming younger swimmers.     Ken Finley's family and friends gathered to remember Ken last Saturday at his pumpkin patch down by the water plant in Chinook.
