This past week, October 3 through October 9 was National 4-H Week. Blaine County 4-H celebrated with a membership campaign that was largely profiled on their Facebook page. August 24, 2021 – The Montana Community Foundation (MCF) announces a grant cycle to benefit communities and residents of Blaine County. Grants will be made from the Blaine County Community Foundation Fund, established at the Montana Community Foundation (MCF) by Warren Ross in 1997. Last month, Brenda Reiter, Program Director for Code Girls United, reached out to Blaine County Library Director Valerie Frank about the possibility of hosting a coding program for girls in grades 4-8. Fort Belknap, Mont. –– The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) recently issued new load postings for the White Bear Creek Bridge on MT 66 in Fort Belknap, in Blaine County. The 2021 Homecoming was held this past weekend on Turner's Main Street. A carnival hosted by grades 7 and 8 kicked off the festivities. Although Pokémon Go was all the rage a few years ago, a more low-key, unplugged treasure-hunt trend is steadily growing in popularity in Montana communities: finding painted rocks. Two Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks law enforcement cases from the fall of 2020 were completed, including an unlawfully killed bull elk in Blaine County, and a bull moose in Phillips County. Lucas Sterling, 42, of Columbia Falls, plead guilty to charges of hunting without a license and unlawful possession of a bull elk. The 7th Annual Tristan Billmayer Suicide Walk was recently held on the Big Flat. It was a beautiful day for the walk on the Big Flat under Montana's Big Sky Country. I visited recently with Ken Finley out at his garden and pumpkin patch adjacent to the Chinook Water Treatment Plant just off Cleveland Road on the south edge of town.
