Searchers found the body of 35 year-old Noah Hofeldt in the Milk River outside Chinook. The Chinook native and resident was first reported by his family as missing on Thursday (June 14). Blaine County Sheriff Glenn Huestis said, “The body was found about 5:30 pm on Sunday just up river from the Chinook Waste Water Treatment facility.” That facility is on the river just south of Bear Paw Livestock. Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Brett Friede will retire Thursday after more than three decades as a law enforcement officer. Friede has served in Lewis and Clark County for the past 28 years as part of a 32-year law enforcement career that includes time in Toole County. Friede has spent time as a patrol deputy, crime scene photographer and hostage negotiator, and was well-known as the courthouse deputy. Statewide there was a 41.3% turnout of Montana’s 679,231 registered voters for the recent primary election. In Blaine County, the turnout was 36.1%, a bit lower than the state turnout.
