Five Chinook Lions Club members visited Meadowlark Elementary in Chinook and handed out 20 American flags to first graders on Presidents Day last Monday. On February 13, twenty-seven spellers from across Blaine County converged on Chinook High School's Lloyd Sweet Auditorium for the Blaine County Spelling Bee. Rod Benson, who grew up in Harlem, was the third presenter in the Blaine County Museum's 2023/24 Off-Season Speaker Series. The nursing home industry is in trouble, especially rural nursing homes that have managed to not succumb to the struggles of the last 3 ½ years. In 2022, 12 nursing homes in Montana closed; one of those was just down the road from us, in Malta. Rural nursing homes made up 31% percent of all nursing home closures since 2020, according to American Health Care Association data.
