Last week the Chinook and Harlem City Councils heard a summary of the final draft of the housing study conducted by KLJ Engineering. The housing report was one of the final steps in a study of current and future needs for housing development and how those needs can be met. The study was done in Harlem, Chinook and Malta. This year’s Community Chest Fund Drive in Chinook will take place Wednesday, May 4, at 5:30 p.m. The purpose of Community Chest is to alleviate each organization from going door-to-door soliciting donations. The drive provides local funding for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Food Pantry, AAU Wrestling, Youth Baseball/Softball, Youth Soccer, MCT, Swim Team and PAWS. The White Pine 4-H Club recently purchased a Bissel carpet sweeper and a paper towel rack to donate to the EEE meeting room next to the Blaine County Extension Office in Chinook. The five members of the quintet are all principal players with the Great Falls Symphony, meaning they are five of the nine salaried musicians who make up the core, first chair players of the symphony. Dawn Lovisa, FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner) joined the Sweet Medical Center on April 19. Lovisa will be working ‘locem tenens,’ meaning on a temporary basis until the end of October. Floren became the City Clerk, in February, replacing Gabe Harry who took a position at the city's water treatment plant. Every year in mid-April, Chinook students participate in the District 7 Music Festival along with many other High-Line Schools. This years Festival was held in Shelby on April 15th and 16th. At this event students are judged by experts in each field and given a rating. The ratings from highest to lowest are: Superior, Excellent, Good, Fair, and Poor.
