  • Chinook FFA Finishes Strong at Fall Districts

    Thirteen members of the Chinook Chapter of the FFA attended Fall Districts in Lewistown on October 3 when eighteen teams from across Montana competed in Livestock Judging and Horse Evaluation. Based on their performance scores, the Chinook Chapter will be sending two teams to State FFA competition this spring.     On October 12, seven seniors from Chinook High School attended the MSU-Northern TekNoXpo & ShowCASE held in the Armory Gymnasium. With TekNoXpo, Montana high school students get the opportunity to explore their educational and career opportunities through MSU-Northern. According to event organizers, the TekNoXpo & ShowCASE is intended to introduce high school students to all that Northern has to offer in academic programs. Parents of children ages 0-5 are encouraged to register their children to receive a free book each month until the child’s fifth birthday. First Lady Susan Gianforte’s Treasure State Foundation supports this initiative to cover the cost. We had almost 300 people who came to choose a pumpkin! 96 kids signed up for our drawing, and Jett Nordboe was the lucky winner.     The Cross Country regular season concluded this past Friday with the Harlem Invitational. Harlem, Chinook and Hays/Lodge Pole were all part of a very strong group of runners with teams from Sunburst to Poplar in attendance.     The Chinook Sugarbeeters football team was in Belt this past Friday to take on the defending State Champion Huskies. The 'Beeters were in for a tough test as they closed out their season. The Huskies scored early and often, taking a 36-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Chinook would fall 56-0 to end their season.     The Lady Cats were busy this week as they took on the North Country Mavericks on Tuesday at home and then hosted District 2B rival Malta on Thursday.
