Producers with CRP contracts expiring on September 30, 2018 may wish to contact FSA concerning the Transition Incentives Program (TIP). The TIP offers incentive payments to retiring producers that sell or lease their expiring CRP acreage to beginning farmers or ranchers. Statewide there was a 41.3% turnout of Montana’s 679,231 registered voters for the recent primary election. In Blaine County, the turnout was 36.1%, a bit lower than the state turnout. Blaine County Commissioner Charlie Kulbeck submitted a letter to fellow county commissioners on June 7 resigning from his post as commissioner for District 3. With much reluctance and disappointment, the Montana Organic Association and Matt and Sonja Johnson have decided to cancel the farm tour planned at the Johnson Ranch in Hinsdale on July 24, 2018. The Alice Nash Cemetery is located more than 60 miles south of Chinook in the heart of the Missouri River Breaks and despite its isolation it has been very well maintained and looked sharp as every this past Memorial Day. Organizers of the recent mental health fair in Chinook were pleased with the number of locals who came to the event held on May 30. A number of local groups shared information about the mental health services they offer.
