Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks annual walleye spawn egg-take on Fort Peck Reservoir was completed in April. With the help of FWP personnel and the many volunteers, the egg collection goals were exceeded. The egg-take effort began in late March, and was completed by the 21st of April. A total of 552 female walleye were spawned, with approximately 79 million eggs collected, and 1,674 males were captured during the effort as well. Virginia McCracken traveled to Spokane last weekend to attend the graduation of her granddaughter, Brianna McCracken, from Gonzaga. Rose Van Voast was to Lewistown for the week visiting Darla Quinlan. She went especially to attend a bridal shower of her granddaughter, LeAnn. We had another round of cooler wet weather this past week. Lots of good moisture, and made the roads muddy again. Sharon Goodrich and Loretta Beck went to Harlem on Monday night for a quilt guild meeting. Linda and Darel Hauge visited Mom and Dad Krass on Tuesday and picked up their pickup that was left over the weekend. We have a lot of work going on our building right now as our roof is being resealed. Hopefully they will be done soon. It isn’t affecting our activities or “Meals on Wheels” program though. A reception was held recently to recognize the three 2015-2016 Young Adult Volunteers (YAV's) who are currently serving in Chinook. After a very successful District Solo and Ensemble Festival in Shelby, music students from Chinook High School moved onto State Solo and Ensemble Festival in Helena. Out of twelve songs presented, three received superior ratings, the highest honor given. A determined and organized group of canvassers made quick work of the annual canvass of Chinook for the Community Chest annual door-to-door solicitation. The non-profit Community Chest was created in the late 1970's to "consolidate solicitation and receive and disburse funds through one organization." Hill County Electric Cooperative (HCE) has announced that it will be mailing out capital credit checks to current and former cooperative members. HCE’s Board of Trustees has authorized a general retirement of capital credits totaling over $106,000. This general retirement is comprised of 10% of the remaining capital credit balances for 1984 and ½ of 1% of the capital credit balances for the years 1985 through 2014.
