The fourth Annual Turkey Trot will take place this Saturday at 9 a.m. The goal of the event is to help raise funds for the local food pantry in Chinook. Organizers put the event together four years ago as a means to help the pantry stock up on supplies to meet the demands through the winter season. The Harlem City Council held its regular monthly meeting on October 13. Prior to the start of the regular meeting there were two informational presentations to the council. Representatives of KLJ, an engineering firm hired to conduct a housing survey for Harlem, explained how they would evaluate the housing needs for the city. On Sunday, Oct. 25, the Harlem Lutheran Church will host their annual Harvest Dinner and Bazaar from noon to 2 p.m. On the menu will be ham with all the trimmings and dessert. The Chinook Volunteer Fire Department (CVFD) conducted a very realistic Fire Drill last Wednesday at both the Meadowlark Elementary and Chinook High Schools. Those aware of the drills were limited to elementary principle Jonathan Martin, high school principle Matt Molyneaux and Chinook schools and Superintendent Darrin Hannum.
