The Eagle Riders of Havre hosted a delicious dinner at the Chinook Eagles on November 18th, 2016 as a fundraiser and outreach event. They served Swiss Steak while talking to community members about their club and what they do.

This dinner was the third event the Eagle Riders have hosted since their new president, Heather Sinclair, took office. She told me about their club, their events, and their plans for the future.

This chapter of the national Eagle Riders is a group of motorcyclists and enthusiasts based in Havre and are currently the only chapter in Montana. They raise money and volunteer throughout the community to help different causes - their motto is "People helping people".

Some of the causes they routinely help with are the Wounded Warrior Project, various benefits for specific community members in need such as cancer benefits, and the Angel Tree each year for Christmas. Their goal is to directly help make the community a better place.

This summer, they even held an international event, inviting our Canadian neighbors down for a 'poker run'. In a poker run, riders pick a random playing card at each designated stop and then see what hand can be made from the cards at the end. This event, "Hands Across the Borders", raised about $1,200 and benefited the Montana Hope Project - a group of law enforcement officers who grant the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses.

One of their future goals is to expand their outreach in the community to the greater Hi-Line area and beyond. They want to be able to help more people in addition to spreading the word about their club in other areas of Montana to hopefully spur a few more chapters to start. They just want to help as many people as they can!
