    After a short break, the Havre High track and field teams return to action this weekend, and it will be on the Ponies' home turf. On Saturday, Havre will host the Havre Lions Invite, the Ponies; big home meet for the 2026 season. Many local teams are set to compete in Havre, including the Class B Chinook Sugarebeeters, Harlem Wildcats and Fort Benton Longhorns.     The Havre High softball team had another tough Eastern A road trip this past weekend. It started with the Blue Ponies falling at Miles City, 18-3 last Friday. The Blue Ponies got on the board in the top of the first inning after Riely Doney singled to right field, Kenzi Harwood doubled to right field, and Gracie Kuszmaul singled to right field, each scoring one run.   • Skylights shine at MCC Rodeo

    With just two weeks left in the Big Sky Region Spring rodeo season, the Montana State University-Northern Skylights are really shining. And they did again last weekend in Miles City. The Northern women finished second at the MCC Rodeo with 435 points. The Northern men finished fourth overall.     The Havre High track and fields teams are looking to be tested this spring. And the Blue Ponies took a major exam last Saturday in Billings. Havre High attended the Billings Invitational last Saturday, where the Ponies were part of a 19-team meet that featured all five Billings’ schools, as well as Bozeman and Gallatin High, among other powerhouses.     It's spring rodeo season in the Big Sky Region, and Havre was the place to be last weekend as the Montana State University-Northern Rodeo Team hosted the annual MSU-Northern Rodeo at the Great Northern Fairgrounds. Head coach Doug Kallenberger's women's team scored 340 points to finish second in the rodeo, while the Lights placed seventh.     It was a tough weekend on the softball diamond for the Havre Blue Ponies, as they dropped games to Shepherd and Laurel this past weekend. The Ponies opened the weekend with a 9-1 loss to Shepherd.The Blue Ponies opened the scoring in the first after Bree Hanson singled, scoring one run. In the bottom of the first inning, Shepherd added one run in the second. Goodell walked, making the score 3-1.     It’s the busiest time of the season for the Havre High tennis teams, and this tough stretch started last weekend at the Class A Invite in Cut Bank. The Havre tennis teams played duals against Polson, Hamilton, Libby and Cut Bank last weekend, and the competition was really good for the Ponies.     The weather cooperated and it turned out to be a busy last week for the Havre High softball team. Things started a little rocky for the Blue Ponies last Tuesday as they lost their home opener to Lewistown 26-9 at the Sixth Avenue Memorial Field. Havre was still in the game late, but the Eagles put up 10 runs in the last inning. Riley Doney and Kenzi Harwood led Havre in runs scored with three each.     It may not have been their home meet, but the Havre High track teams were on their track with beautiful weather for the annual Cal Wearley Invitational last Saturday. And the Ponies were right at home at the Havre Middle School Track.
