Winter creates Ice Sculptures on Milk River

Steve Edwards

These unusual ice 'sculptures' were photographed just below the weir (open water in the background) at the Chinook Water Treatment plant. Workers at the plant explained the unusual formations result when water coming over the weir is forced up through cracks in the ice, refreezes and builds up. The sculptures are another of winter's unique displays.
