Blaine County Library

August 26, 2020

The Blaine County Library Board of Trustees will hold their regular monthly meeting Monday August 31st at 4:00 p.m. in the library meeting room.

All patrons age 5 and over are required to wear a face covering to enter the building. The library made the decision to continue to require masks regardless of the active case count. It becomes too confusing for many of our patrons if we require masks one day and not the next, so we will continue requiring them until further notice and we thank the public for your cooperation. We require everyone to wash their hands upon entering the building and to practice social distancing while in the building.

The library has mobile hotspots available for check out. These are small devices used to access the Internet by using a cellular connection. Patrons who have been registered with a good record for at least one month may check out a hotspot for 14 days with no renewals. A user must read and sign a lending agreement and complete a survey upon return of the device. Each user is responsible to return the hotspot on time in good working order. If it is not returned on time the device will be disabled. The mobile hotspots are provided to libraries across the state thanks to a pilot program from Montana State Library.

The library is a Be Counted location for the Montana 2020 Census. If you have not filled out your Census form, stop in and we can get you set up to file your Census online. You do not need the card with your personal number that the Census mailed to fill out the form online. All you need to get started is your physical address.

New books ready to go this week include Westerns, non-fiction, and thrillers. “Deliverance Mary Fields” by Miantae Metcalf Mcconnell is the story of the first African American woman Star Route mail carrier in the United States. That state was Montana and her story is fascinating. “Too Much and Never Enough” by Mary Trump is the other non-fiction book ready this week. If you are looking for a Western, we have “The Lost are the Last to Die” by Larry Sweazy and “Ranger McIntyre: The Dunraven Hoard Murders” by James Work. “Dark August by Katie Tallo and “The Silent Wife” by Karin Slaughter are thrillers ready for checkout.
