Harlem Library

September 2, 2020

The library will leave the Wi-Fi on after hours beginning September 1. With many students needing to do classes online and others needing to access the internet during the pandemic the library feels it is important to provide free Wi-Fi even when the library is not open. Patrons will have to ask for the password at the front desk during our business hours. The library complies with copyright laws. If the library Wi-Fi is used for illegal purposes we will have to turn the Wi-Fi off after hours.

The Book Challenge for September is to read a book written before you were born.

The library will be closed Labor Day, September 7.

Book Club members may pick up the new book “Book Woman of Troublesome Creek” by Kim Michele Richardson (sorry about the last minute change) September 1-4. The first discussion will be September 14, 4 P.M. via Skype at join.skype.com/OBq8EUM6IEwF.

Carly is hosting a virtual story time via Facebook Live starting Tuesday, September 15, 10 A.M.

The revised completion date for the 2020 Census has been moved up to September 30. Blaine County has only a 30.8 % response rate at this time ranking #49 in the state. It is critical that everyone complete the census survey as many of our federal dollars are based on data collected from the census. These dollars support education, transportation, health care, infrastructure, and many other programs that benefit our communities. The Census count affects Montana’s representation in the U.S. Congress and at the state and local level. It is estimated that every person who is counted will bring $20,000 dollars back to our state over the next ten years. You may self report online at my2020census.gov or by phone at 844-330-2020. Census workers will be visiting those residents who have not completed the survey. These workers must present a photo ID badge identifying themselves as a certified census worker. Completing the census form is free and your information is completely confidential. If you need assistance completing the survey online the library staff is here to help.
