Sarah Finley Benefit Postponed, Free Will Donation Drive Saturday at First Bank

October 7, 2020

Saturday, August 10, was supposed to be the day of the Sarah Finley/Rylin Collins Benefit, but that has been postponed due to the recent uptick in COVID-19 cases in Blaine County. Pushing back the date of the benefit to better ensure the safety of those who plan to attend is for the best and organizers are committed to holding the event at a yet to be determined date.

Sarah and Rylin are on the minds of the community and helping them as soon as possible is still very much an option. This Saturday, October 10, at the First Bank of Montana in Chinook there will be a 'Free Will' donation drive from 1:00 p.m. – 4 p.m. Folks are encouraged to stop by and show their support for Sarah and Rylin, and help them cover mounting medical expenses. While there, enjoy a cup of coffee, hot chocolate and a cookie. For more information about this event, contact Ginger Hansen at (406) 265-0803.

In early August, Sarah went in to have some checkups done and Doctors quickly began working on determining what was ailing her. Numerous test and visits to Great Falls took place before learning her diagnosis. In late August Sarah was diagnosed with Primary Mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma, a fast-growing cancer that needed to be treated immediately. She was scheduled to begin a stringent Chemotherapy treatment August 31.

Sarah learned on August 28, that her daughter Rylin had fallen and hit her head while horseback riding and was headed to Kalispell with a fractured skull. In an already difficult position, Sarah made the decision to have her mom, Julie, head to Kalispell and take her spot next to Rylin.

As we know, medical bills accumulate very quickly, and they become instantly overwhelming. The community of Chinook and all the Hi-line has always been very quick to help in these situations. Wanting to help Sarah and Rylin, a benefit was quickly set up at the Chinook Eagles. A T-Shirt fundraiser was established as was a benefit account at First Bank of Montana in Chinook.

Sarah continues to go through treatments, and hopefully is on her way to a full recovery. Rylin has since been cleared to return to school after impressing the Doctors with her speedy recovery. The need to help this wonderful mother and daughter is still great and while the event scheduled for Saturday has been postponed, organizers still have it planned for a future, yet to be determined date.

For information about the benefit contact Linda Azure at (406) 945-5944 or Pam Darrah at (406) 357-3388. If you would like to contribute to the benefit account set up at First Bank, make checks payable to 'Sarah Finley Benefit'.
