During these hot summer days, come in to the library and find a cool and comfortable place to relax. Here are some new books for your reading pleasure.

“Mother May I” is written by Joshilyn Jackson. In this chilling tale a mother must decide how far she is willing to go to protect her child and the life she loves. It is a story of power, privilege, lies, revenge and how the choices we make can transform our lives in unforeseen ways.

Mary Kay Andrews is the author of “The Newcomer.” After Letty discovers her sister Tanya dead in her New York townhouse, she heeds her sister’s warnings: “If anything bad happened to me – It’s Evan.” Evan is Tanya’s sleazy ex boyfriend. So Letty takes Tanya’s daughter Maya determined to outrun Evan. She winds up at the Surf, a winter home of retirees and snowbirds. There she tries to unravel Tanya’s shady past while healing Maya’s heartache.

“Yellowstone Wolves” tells the “incredible story of the wolves’ return to Yellowstone National Park…told by the very people responsible for their reintroduction, study, and management.” This books is edited by Douglas W. Smith, Daniel R. Stahler, and Daniel R. MacNulty.

Nancy Tucker has written “The First Day of Spring.” Chrissie is eight and has a secret: she has just killed a boy. Twenty years later, Chrissie is living in hiding trying to forget who she used to be. But the past is catching up with her, threatening to take away the one thing she cares about: her five-year-old daughter.

“The Executive Order” is by David Fisher. Independent senator, Ian Wrightman, has been elected president to heal the nation frayed by extreme partisanship. After the country comes under a series of terrorist attacks, the new administration rolls out executive orders that claim to protect Americans, when in reality they are taking away their constitutional freedoms.

Davis Bunn brings to readers “The Cottage on Lighthouse Lane.” Billy Walker left his rough past to find his star rising in Hollywood. But an on-set accident leaves him in desperate need of a rest. He seeks refuge in Miramar Bay, but is haunted by dark dreams. There he meets Mimi, who has left her tragic childhood in Ukraine and has the talent to read unrestful visions of others. She is the comfort Billy needs as he finds himself falling in love with her. But can he go back to his real world and say goodbye to the woman who has changed his life?

“Never put off till tomorrow the book you can read today.” ~ Holbrook Jackson
