Harlem Library

December 8, 2021

Stop by the library to see the “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” display of angels from community members. You may still bring angels to add to the display.

The library has a large selection of holiday books to read during this season on our Christmas Book Tree. Three new titles include “The Santa Suit” by Mary Kay Andrews, “The Wish” by Nicholas Sparks, and “Dear Santa” by Debbie Macomber. Be sure to let the library know what holiday book or books you have read to be entered in the December Book Challenge.

Because of the pandemic the Friends of the Harlem Library have not been able to host the annual wine and cheese fundraiser for two years. If you would like to make a donation as part of your end- of-the-year giving it would be greatly appreciated. Donations may be given at the library or sent to Valerie Van Voast, PO Box 172, Turner, MT 59542. Thank you.

“The Party Crasher” is a new novel by Sophie Kinsella. This is a funny, heart-warming novel about family. Effie sneaks into the house she grew up in while her estranged father and his much younger new girlfriend throw a party to celebrate the sale of the house. Effie is in search of a childhood treasure she knows must still be hidden somewhere but in her hunt she overhears conversations, makes discoveries and begins to see her family in a new light.

“State of Terror” is a new thriller written by Hillary Rodham Clinton and Louise Penny. The new American president chooses a political enemy as his Secretary of State. Within weeks of Ellen Adams’s appointment, terrorists attack and she must scramble to figure out the country’s next move. It soon becomes apparent the enemies of the state are closer than she could have imagined.

“The Night She Disappeared” is written by Lisa Jewell. Tallulah and Zach decide on a night out, the first one since the birth of their infant son. When morning comes it is discovered the two never made it home. One year after the case runs cold, a writer moves into a cottage near where the couple disappeared. On a long walk she discovers a mysterious note that says, “Dig Here.”

Other new titles include “The Last Graduate” by Naomi Novik. This science fiction novel is the second in The Scholomance series. “Cloud Cuckoo Land” is by Pulitzer Prize winning author Anthony Doerr. A new Walt Longmire novel by Craig Johnson is “Daughter of the Morning Star.”

The library will be closed December 24 for the Christmas holiday and December 31 in observance of New Years Day. There will be no programming the week of December 27.
