The Lady Cats made a valiant comeback but fell short 47-46.

Friday night in Rocky Boys the Lady Cats took an early lead and never looked back in getting past the district 1B Morning stars. Sophomore Tova Anderson connected from beyond the arc and senior standout Taya Trottier scored eight first quarter points to put Harlem up 14-5 at the end of the first quarter.

A much improved Wolves team matched the Lady Cat effort early on and the focus of the game became each teams defensive effort. Trottier contributed eight of the teams nine first quarter points. While the offense scored the defense held the Wolves in check as well providing a 9-9 score to start the second quarter.

The Harlem offense continued to struggle in the second quarter. Messerly and Sanchez accounted for all four Lady Cat points. The Wolves scored 13 before the break and took a nine point 22-13 advantage into halftime.

Trottier injected life back into the Lady Cat offense after the intermission connecting on five of six from the charity stripe and scoring nine points to bring Harlem back withing six, 34-28 entering the fourth quarter.

With just over five minutes remaining Trottier drove hard down the left side for a bucket to cut the Wolves lead to 39-35. Moments later Sanchez answered a Cut Bank basket with a long straight away three to bring Harlem within 3 at 41-38 with 4:31 remaining.

The Lady Cats soon cut the deficit to 43-32 after

Trottier picked the pocket of the Wolves guard, transitioned down the court and made a beautiful pass to freshman Aaraya Mount for the score. With just :27.7 left on the clock Mount made a nice entry pass into Messerly to make the score 47-46 in favor of the Wolves.

Neither team was able to score in the waining moments sending the Lady Cats another tough loss. Trottier led all scorers with 23 points in the contest. Messerly finished with 13 and Sanchez five.
