Dorvin "Midge" Leo Gruszie

Dorvin “Midge” Leo Gruszie, passed away unexpectedly on June 19, 2023 at her residence. She was 79 years old. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by her death. Midge was born on April 7, 1944, to Frances and Pauline Leo in Zurich, Montana.

Midge graduated from Chinook High School in 1962. She and Wesley started dating in 1964 and were married on July 10, 1965. They were married for 49 years.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Midge enjoyed many jobs over the years from waitressing to working retail. She was a talented homemaker and seamstress. It was in Midge’s early fifties that she and Wes moved from Chinook to Missoula. Midge worked at Missoula Hellgate Elementary in the Food Services Program for a number of years. After she retired, she continued to garden and keep up with her adult grandchildren. Midge was the family backyard game champion. She looked forward to visits, text messages, and Facetime calls. All who knew her could count on her for love, support and encouragement.

Midge was predeceased by husband; Wesley, parents; Frances & Pauline Leo, two brothers Jerome and Irvin Leo. She is survived by daughters; Melissa (Willie) Pyette, Dedra (Robert) Haworth. Two granddaughters; Alexa (Jacob) Pyette-Hollifield, Lindsy (fiancé Blake Butler), Two Grandsons; Connor Haworth and Riegan Haworth. Brother; Don (Jill) Leo. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Midge’s family would like to thank everyone for their kind words and prayers. She will be forever missed.

Wilderness Funeral Homes in Chinook will be handling all service arrangements. Public viewing will be held Friday, June 23,2023 from 6-7pm at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Chinook, MT. Funeral services will be at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 10:00am. Midge will be laid to rest at Kuper Memorial Cemetery. All are welcome to join the family for a reception back at the church hall.
