Richard Eldon Gilmore, 86, of Dodson, passed away in Billings, MT on October 2, 2025. Richard was born November 1, 1938 in Thompson Falls, MT to Eldon and Evelyn Gilmore. He graduated from Malta High School in 1957 going on to work for a short time at Philco Feeds. He was then drafted into the Armed Forces in 1961 serving in the Korean conflict during which time he received a letter of appreciation from his Commanding Officer.
Richard married Glennagene Wilson in 1964, they had two children Richene Boschee and Richard (Shep) Gilmore additionally raising three cousins of Glenna's, Cathy, Cindy and Greg Nelson. Richard and Glenna divorced in 1984. Later Richard made a happy home with Darlene, combining the two families adding Debbie, Doug and Cheri and their families.
Richard is survived by his children Richene Boschee (Herb Napier), Shep (Julie) Gilmore, grandchildren Crystallyn (Trey) Heppner their children Justise, Travis, Treydon, Tanner and Titus; Levi (Felicia)Gilmore, their children Morgan, Jazper; four sisters, four brothers, extended family include grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other people that he considered family.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Darlene, and one grandson Laredo and Greg Nelson.
Richard had a great love for ranch life, the horses the cattle and what he did to care for them was not considered work! He thoroughly enjoyed dancing, music, a good ditch and conversing with people. He loved people!!
Richard's door was always open with the welcome mat out and the coffee pot on. Please join us for that coffee at the Stockman Terrace in Malta where we will have a Celebration of Life for Richard on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. The doors will open at 12 noon for the service at 1:00 pm with food and fellowship following, bring your instrument if you wish.
