Mrs. Harry invited the aid of three helpers to showcase three of last year's Caldecott winners. Livia Turner is holding My Daddy Is a Cowboy by Stephanie Seales, illustrated by C.G. Esperanza. This book not only won a Caldecott Honor last year but was one of Meadowlark's Mock Caldecott Honor books as well. Josey Sather displays Chooch Helped by Andrea L. Rogers and illustrated by Rebecca Lee Kunz, which was last year's Caldecott Winner. Shirley Harry is holding Home in a Lunchbox, written and illustrated by Cherry Mo. Although it officially won a Caldecott Honor in 2025, this picture book was Meadowlark's Mock Caldecott pick last year, proving the youth are pretty accurate judges.
Mrs. Kelsey Harry, Librarian for Chinook schools, announced recently that with the return to classes in 2026, the Meadowlark Elementary Library will begin its Mock Caldecott unit. According to Harry, the activity is something both she and the students look forward to every year.
