Each year the Turner American Legion Auxiliary sponsors an American Essay Contest for students in grades 5-12. Grade levels are divided into classes, and a certain word requirement must be met within that age level. One award in each competing class is presented in each division. The Junior and High School students at Turner School enjoyed observing PI Day at their school this past Wednesday, 3/14/18. The students shared their knowledge of PI DAY with other students in the school. The girls Tornado basketball team was sent off to the Divisional tournament with a community Pep Rally this past Tuesday evening at the Turner Old Gym. A taco dinner was served following a pep rally involving school students, parents, community members, and coaches. Everybody had a part in this event and it was obvious that the community supports their students 100% as the gym was full. There was a pep assembly this past Wednesday prior to sending off both girls and boys basketball teams to their District 9C Tournament. Coronation of Royalty was held recently for the 2017-2018 Homecoming at Turner High School. Four high school boys and girls were delegates for the festivities. Last year's reigning queen and king, Melanie Watkins and Eddie Harmon, passed the crowns to the incoming royalty that was recently held at half court during the varsity boys game recently. Seventeen year old Jeremy Tincher was found deceased in a field near mile post 426 along US Hwy 2 in the morning hours on January 11, 2018. Jeremy was reported to be last observed walking along the highway between Harlem, MT and Fort Belknap the evening of January 10, 2018. He was not appropriately dressed for the extremely cold temperatures and he succumbed to hypothermia and exposure.
