The Blaine County Library invites parents and caregivers to participate in their Books and Babies program. In its first year, the program is designed to build language and social skills. The program, which began on June 7, meets on Friday mornings from 10:30-11:30 through July 5. The Milk River Gobblers Club of Havre has distributed 4 scholarships this year totaling $1500.00. At the start of this year, only 2 $500.00 scholarships were going to be awarded. The Beaverhead Recreation Working Group will host a volunteer workday on Saturday, July 13. Participants should meet at the DNRC parking lot, 840 N. Montana St., in Dillon at 9 a.m. Please bring water, gloves and a lunch. State and local public health officials are reminding Montanans to take steps to avoid mosquito bites and prevent infection with West Nile Virus (WNV). In Montana, WNV season usually begins in July and ends in October, as this is when the mosquitoes that transmit WNV emerge.
