MSU News Service BOZEMAN - Forty of Montana State University's top seniors and their faculty and staff mentors were recognized Tuesday, Feb. 16, at the 34th annual Awards for Excellence banquet held on the MSU campus. The study sought to analyze projected population growth in the three cities, identify the state and availability of housing and suggest strategies city governments can use to make affordable housing more available. A heater in one of the Harlem Water Treatment plants failed and ended up heating to the point of melting lead seals. When one of the city workers went into the room, he was hit in the face with a blast of chlorine causing injury and lung damage, according to city officials. Kristi Norby started work as the new director of the Chinook Senior Center. She replaces Marilyne Berger who is retiring after more than 10 years at the helm of the center. Norby began her new duties on January, 14. Berger plans to work with and train the new director until the end of February. Marilyne, and her husband Don, are longtime residents of Chinook. Jade Cecrle, a 12 year old seventh grader at Chinook Junior High, is an active member of 4-H and a horse enthusiast. In the three years she's been taking projects in 4-H the projects have involved horses. Her first horse, Pepper, now has ringbone (a form of equine arthritis). Officer Zach Freeman, with the Montana Highway Patrol, reported a crash occurred on US 2 at Mile Marker 411 Sunday afternoon, February 7. The two vehicle crash resulted in one fatality. The Blaine County Sheriff’s office reported the victim was identified as 18 year old Jesse Dannels of Chinook. After years and two different sitting councils, the secretarial election was finally held after many trials and temporary roadblocks. Both tribes and the Assiniboine and Gros-Ventre voted and the vote passed by a count of 154 for and 99 opposed. Also, a secretarial election calls for 30% of the registered voters to participate. The actual percentage voting was at approximately 38%, satisfying the 30% needed.
