The annual all-star event has long been a staple of the Hi-Line, beginning in Malta before making its home at MSU-Northern in Havre. And this year's tournament delivered the same level of excitement fans have come to expect. On the girls side, Class B captured the championship with a 104-93 victory over Class AA on Saturday. Class C claim...

  • Wildcats finish magical season with a state runner-up finish

    George Ferguson|Mar 18, 2026

The Harlem Wildcats made plenty of history in 2026. But on Saturday night in Bozeman, they were trying to add one more piece of history to the season - the program's first Class B boys basketball state championship in 24 years. Lodge Grass had other ideas however. In front off a sold-out Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, Lodge Grass ran away from Harlem in the Class B boys championship game, in a 69-48 win. The Lodge Grass victory capped a perfect 26-0 season, and the Indians avenged a loss to Harlem...

  • Turner's Bridget Reed scores 1000 career points

    George Ferguson|Mar 18, 2026

It was an incredible season for the Turner girls basketball team. Not only did the Tornadoes win the District 9C regular season title, but, they hoisted their first 9C championship trophy in four decades last month at the Havre High gymnasium. That win also pushed Turner into the Northern C in Great Falls, where the Tornaodoes have been a few times in the last 10 years. There, Turner played well, though the Tornadoes didn't quite make it to the state tournament. Still, it was a great year for th...

  • Harlem boys capture Northern B crown in dominant fashion

    George Ferguson|Mar 11, 2026

As the high school basketball postseason rolls on, things are supposed to get tougher. That doesn't seem to be the case for the Harlem boys basketball team, however. After battling to a District 2B title two weeks ago, the Wildcats had their eyes on the top prize at the Northern B Divisional Tournament last weekend in Shelby. Only the Wildcats didn't likely expect to win the tournament in the fashion they did. The Northern B is always one of the premier tournaments in the postseason, but Harlem...

In the championship game, Harlem crushed top-seeded Malta 69-39, as the Wildcats went on a 13-0 run in the second quarter and never...

  • Turner girls' magical run ends at Northern C

    George Ferguson|Mar 4, 2026

The Northern C is always exciting. It's also highly challenging, and the upstart Turner girls found that out last week in Great Falls. After winning the 9C tournament two weeks ago, Turner opened the Northern C by staying on a hot streak as the Tornadoes thrashed Power-Dutton-Brady 48-28 at the Four Seasons Arena. Bridget Reed led four players in double figures for Turner with 15 points as the Tornadoes advanced to the semifinals. There, however, Turner ran into the Belt Huskies, and Belt...

  • Chinook basketball ends the season at District 1B tourney

    George Ferguson|Mar 4, 2026

The postseason didn't go quite how either Chinook basketball team hoped it would. Instead, the first week of the hoops postseason was the end of the line for both the Chinook boys and girls teams. Last weekend in Cut Bank, the Chinook boys went 1-2 and came up one victory shy of reaching the divisional tournament. The Sugarbeeters opened the 1B boys tournament with a 59-49 loss to Conrad. The Cowboys led all the way, and while Chinook rallied late, it wasn't enough. Ryan Bell scored 19 points...
