On March 27, the Chinook High School Wrestling Program received new mats. They arrived from Resilite Sports Products located in Northumberland, Pennsylvania, at approximately 2:45 p.m., and the wrestlers gathered to unload them. The new wrestling mats were carried into the Lloyd Sweet Auditorium where they will be rolled out and treated with a chemical preservative. The 37th Annual Hi-Line Invitational Tournament took place this past weekend at the Armory Gymnasium on the campus of MSU-Northern in Havre. The Light and Skylight basketball teams co-hosted the event featuring many of the top high school girls and boys basketball players from across the state of Montana. The Chinook Lady Sugarbeeters concluded their incredible season this past weekend at the 2024 Class B State Tournament. The Beeters went undefeated during the regular season and lost four games in the postseason. Every team's goal is to make it to the State tournament, or win the Championship game, but only one team can win it all. Chinook wasn't that team this year, but they were one of 8 Class B teams that could say they made it to the State tournament, and that is something to be proud of....
Three Blaine County residents participated in the 2024 Special Olympics Bowling Championships. Glasgow hosted the event with a theme Middle of Nowhere. Justin Konesky, Darianne Mitchell and Anne Jo Reed participated with the Havre Blue Pony team. Kassie Johnson is their coach. The 2023-2024 wrestling season came to an end this past weekend. 12 wrestlers represented Blaine County, seven from Chinook and five from Harlem. Of the 12 that went, five found the podium on the big stage. On the boys side for Chinook freshman Walter Schoen found the podium finishing fourth in the 160 pound weight class. The Turner Tornado girls basketball team has been playing some inspired basketball lately. First, they took on the Box Elder Bears in a District 9C contest. The girls played really well together and pulled off a comfortable 48-35 win over the Bears.
