Driver license scheduling just got easier

December 2, 2015

We are pleased to inform you that the Montana Department of Justice Motor Vehicle Division will be implementing appointment scheduling at all driver license offices by the end of 2015.

To best manage this process, appointments are required for all services except driver license renewals and driver license replacements; appointments are optional for these two services, but are highly recommended.

There are two options available for scheduling an appointment:

• Online at doj.mt.gov/driving. The service is fast, easy to use and mobile friendly. Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

• By calling 1-866-450-8034 to schedule an appointment. Available 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday.

Appointment scheduling information can be found on our website. The site lists the required documentation for each appointment type, fees and other useful information.

When customers make an online appointment they can choose to receive either a text or email confirmation, and they will also receive reminder notifications by the same method for their appointment. The confirmation also provides links to the MVD website so they can review what type of documents are required for their appointment. We want to make sure customers are aware and understand what information they need to bring so we may complete the service they need as timely as possible.

If you have any questions, please contact Kristine Thatcher, Driver License Bureau Chief at kthatcher@mt.gov.
