What 'cher point?

Lots of good football to watch these days. I have to mention Big Sandy who stunned everyone last weekend when they beat Geraldine 30 to 22.

Maybe Big Sandy is upward bound once again. It has been a long dry spell for the Pioneers.

I got to watch the Grizzlies beat North Dakota and while I knew it was going to be easy for the Griz to beat North Dakota, I did not realize that it was going to be that easy. The score was 41 to 17 in that Big Sky Conference Game. It was a wonderful game to watch because I knew my team was going to win. Only down side was it made me realize how much I have missed Missoula. I did graduate work there and it was one of the best places I have ever lived.

If I was shocked that the Griz won so handily, I was also shocked at how terrible a loss it was for the Bobcats to lose to Eastern Washington. Everyone knows that Washington is a football state and has great teams but I would have expected the Bobcats to give them a little more run for their money. The score was 31 to 19. I guess that is not as bad as I thought.

Not nearly as bad as Northern getting trounced by the Methodists at Rocky. That score was 52 to 3 in Havre Saturday afternoon. Pathetic!

It is Sunday morning and the Patriots are playing the Jets as I write these words.

I figure the Patriots will win that game but it will be closer than expected. In my mind, though, I want to be watching the Green Bay vs. Minnesota game. Some friends have a great feeling that Green Bay will be one half of this season’s Super Bowl. Before the Minnesota game, they are starting out with a four and one record which is not bad. Look for trouble in their own conference from Carolina, Philadelphia and maybe Seattle. All that is too early to predict but it is such fun that I continue to do it. On the other side, in the American Conference, they could be playing in the Super Bowl against maybe Kansas City or Denver. Now that would be a hoot to see a Denver vs. Green Bay Super Bowl. Already I could pick Green Bay to win it.

I think that I joined my friends in thinking that Green Bay had a chance when they beat the Cowboys, last weekend by a score of 35 to 31.

And one last thought. What about those Cowboys? With their record of 2 and 3 they are not doing well but it is early and they will improve.

I was also surprised last weekend when the Jaguars beat the Steelers. I didn’t see that one coming. That gave the Jags a 3 and 2 record coming into last weekend. Pittsburgh is 3 and 2 as well going into last weekend.

How about some predictions?

With that drubbing Northern took from Rocky, I don’t know if it is worth even putting them in the win/loss columns. But we will. Northern is going to lose to Montana Tech. Rocky plays Carroll. Let’s give that win to Carroll.

Montana beats Weber and gains a whole bunch more confidence in their team next weekend. Montana State beats Northern Colorado.

Can you believe it is already week 7 in the mighty NFL? Half way through the season already.

On Thursday night the Chiefs beat the Raiders.

On Sunday the Buccaneers beat the Bills, the Steelers beat the Bengals and the Vikings beat the Ravens.

The Jets beat the Dolphins, the Cards lose to the Rams and the Panthers beat the Bears.

The Browns beat the Titans, the Pack beats the Saints and the Jags beat the Colts.

The Cowboys beat San Francisco, the Sea Hawks beat the Giants and the Broncos beat the Chargers.

On Sunday night it is the Patriots over the Falcons and on Monday Night football it is the Eagles over the Redskins.

That is my story and I am sticking to it. Go Thunderbirds!
