'Beeter girls off to a fast start, qualify as a team for State C Golf during busy first week of action

After being unable to get on their home courses the golf teams from Chinook and Harlem were able to compete this past week and hope to get as much competition as they can squeeze into the next few week as the State B and State C tournaments are just three weeks away.
The Chinook Sugarbeeter girls golf team is off to a fast start having already qualified three for the State meet which also qualifies them as a team in the tournament.
Senior Carrie Hofer qualified her first time out, firing a 57-56 113 at the Meadowlark Country Club in Great Falls. Hofer finished tied for first but fell in a chip off to finish second.
In the Shelby Saturday Hofer again finished second shooting a 102. Junior Ashley MacLeod punched her ticket to the state tournament with a round of 109. The Sugarbeeters also got a great effort out of sophomore Alyssa Gruszie who qualified for the big dance with a score of 119.
Monday the team was in Fort Benton and Hofer again turned in a fine performance in the Class B meet. Hofer shot 53 on the front nine and then turned the trick again on the back nine to finish with a 106.
The Sugarbeeters boys competed well over the course of the three tournaments and qualified one for the State tournament. Senior Jacob Huckabee began the week with a 115 at the Meadowlark Country Club. Huckabee then turned in a 105 in Shelby taking 10 strokes off his opening round.
Monday in Fort Benton Huckabee was solid finishing the front nine in 48 and the back nine in 47 to qualify with a round of 95.
The State C Golf Tournament will be held in Fairmont, May 15-17
