Hill County Electrics 73rd Annual Meeting of Members Well Attended

HAVRE – Bear Paw Development Corporation Hill County Electric (HCE) held its 73rd Annual Meeting of Members on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Nearly 200 individuals attended the meeting including members, their families and other guests.

Subject matter discussed during the Business meeting included the cost of transmission and running power lines across a large service area with less than one member per mile. Through on-going maintenance and improved technology, HCE is able to reduce the number of outages that occur as well as the duration time of an outage. HCE's Board approved a capital credit retirement of $357,141.48 to HCE members with checks being mailed out the end of April.

Gerald Rutledge was reelected to represent District 4 and Clarence "Fritz" Keller was reelected to represent District 5. Stuart Smith remains Board President, Fritz Keller Vice President and Lon Waid Secretary/Treasurer.

HCE awarded eight "Luck of the Draw" scholarships to college age students who attended the meeting with their parent or guardian, who is a member. 2017 HCE Youth Tour winner, Hali Kapperud, spoke to those in attendance about her trip to Washington, D.C. last summer. She encouraged high school age students to apply for the Youth Tour trip.

CEO, Craig Gates, advised the membership that HCE is now a Generac dealer and able to supply and install backup generators. HCE members Blake and Stephanie Borst won the Grand Prize of $500 towards a Generac generator and professional installation by HCE's Master Electrician.
