Thanks to everyone who helped to make the Holiday Wine and Cheese Fundraiser such a success! A special note of appreciation goes out to all who donated auction items, prepared the delicious refreshments and to our generous business supporters.

The Book Challenge for December is to read a short and sweet book with less than 150 pages. You have just a few weeks to complete the 2018 Reading Challenge to read at least 52 books this year. You may win a fabulous gift basket which includes a $25 gift card!

The library will have special holiday hours for Christmas and New Year’s. The library will be open from 10:00-1:00 Dec. 24 and Dec. 31. We will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Be sure to stop by and take advantage of the great selection of holiday books at the library. Tis the season to be reading!

During these chilly days try some new slow cooker recipes. Check out the new cookbook “The Whole 30 Slow Cooker” by Melissa Hartwig.

“Abandoned” is by Allison Brennan. Investigative reporter Max Revere was abandoned by her mother when she was nine hearing from her by postcards periodically. Seven years after the postcards stopped, Martha Revere was declared legally dead. Now using a single clue Max drops everything to seek the truth. But as the story unfolds she suspects more than one person is lying.

Readers of the “Pillars of the Earth” and “World Without End” by Ken Follett will want to pick up the next book in the saga “”A Column of Fire.”

Marjorie Herrera Lewis is the author of “When the Men Were Gone.” It is the autumn of 1944. In Brownwood, Texas, football is everything. Because of the war most of the men of Brownwood, including the football coach, are off fighting. But no one counted on Assistant Principal Tylene Wilson who learned the game at her daddy’s knee and is determined to coach. Rallying the boys she leads the team and the town time they will never forget. This book is based on a true story.

“The Dream Daughter” is by Diane Chamberlain. Carly Sears lost her husband in the Viet Nam War. She learns that her unborn daughter has a heart defect and is told nothing can be done. But her brother-in-law, a physicist with a questionable past, suggests something that will require Carly to take an unimaginable leap of faith.

The new Jack Reacher novel by Lee Child is “Past Tense.” Sara Paretsky’s latest V.I. Warshawski novel is “Shell Game.” “Holy Ghost” is the most recent Virgil Flowers book by John Sandford.
