The last Books and Babies of the summer at the Blaine County Library.

This is the final week of activities for our Summer Reading Program. Kids who are reading and turning in time logs will have until August 9th to finish. We will draw for prizes on the 9th. The reader with the most hours will win an after-hours pizza party. Accelerated Reader tests for Chinook schools and Zurich can be taken until school starts.

We have several thrillers available this week. "The Whisper Network" by Chandler Baker is a Reese Whitherspoon Book Club Pick. Sloane, Ardie, Grace, and Rosalita have worked at Truviv, Inc. for years. The sudden death of Truviv's CEO means their boss, Ames, will likely take over the entire company. Each of the women has a different relationship with Ames, who has always been surrounded by whispers about how he treats women.

Those whispers have been ignored, swept under the rug, hidden away by those in charge. Sloane and her colleagues' decision to take a stand sets in motion a catastrophic shift in the office. Lies will be uncovered, secrets will be exposed, and not everyone will survive.

All their lives, as women, colleagues, mothers, wives, friends, even adversaries, will change dramatically as a result. Rogue police officer, Harry Hole is back and in the throes of a new, unanticipated rage--once again hunting the murderer who has haunted his entire career in "Knife" by Jo Nesbo. In "One Good Deed" by David Baldacci, straight-talking, former World War II veteran Aloysius Archer is released from prison, and is sent to Poca City on parole with a short list of do's and a much longer list of don'ts: do report regularly to his parole officer, don't go to bars, certainly don't drink alcohol, do get a job--and don't ever associate with loose women. Within a single night, his search for gainful employment--and a stiff drink--leads him to a local bar, where he is hired for what seems like a simple job: to collect a debt owed to a powerful local businessman, Hank Pittleman. When a murder takes place right under Archer's nose, police suspicions rise against the ex-convict, and Archer realizes that the crime could send him right back to prison . . . if he doesn't use every skill in his arsenal to track down the real killer. Iconoclastic detective Jackson Brodie returns in a triumphant new novel about secrets, sex, and lies in "Big Sky" by Kate Atkinson. "The New Girl" by Daniel Silva is a thriller of deception, betrayal, and vengeance.

Breakthrough and Shazam! Are new movies ready for checkout this week.

Are you planning a trip and thinking about ways to make the miles more tolerable? We have downloadable audio and eBooks available to our patrons with MontanaLibrary2Go. There are many books appropriate for the whole family. You need to download the Libby app to the device you will be using, this can be a phone, Kindle or laptop. You will need your library card number and an Internet connection to download the books. Once a book is downloaded, you don't need an Internet connection to listen or read. Patrons have the title for 2 weeks and then it is automatically returned. Each library card can have 5 titles checked out at a time. More information and instructions are available on our website. If you need your library card number, just give us a call or come into the library. If you have problems, staff is available to walk you through the process.

There is always something going on at the library. Check us out on Facebook or look us up on our website at http:www.blainecountylibrary.org for up to date information about what's going on!
