We are pleased to announce a new program at the library. “Move it at the Library” is a fitness program offered at many libraries across the nation. After reading about the program in the Great Falls Library, Ellen Savage contacted the staff and inquired about starting a program here. Ellen will be leading the aerobic exercise sessions Wednesday and Friday afternoons from 5:15 to 6:00 p.m. in the library meeting room.

There are still a few days left in February, which is Library Lover’s Month. Stop in and let us know why you love your library. February is also the month for romance. The display table is filled with romances to check out. During the month of February you can buy a bag of books for $1.00. So, come in a take a look at the used books in the entryway and fill a bag!

February is also Black History Month, an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of blacks in U.S. history. Also known as African American History Month, the event grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of noted historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating black history. In celebration of Black History Month we have a display of books and movies.

We have a variety of new fiction ready to go this week. “Dead to Her” by Sarah Pinborough is a suspense novel where marriage can be murder. Marcie’s affair with Jason Maddox catapulted her into the world of the elite. Old money, old ties, old secrets. Marcie may have married into this world—but she’ll never be part of it. Then Jason’s boss brings back a new wife from his trip to London. Young, attractive, reckless—nobody can take their eyes off Keisha, including Marcie’s husband. Some people would kill for the life Marcie has—what will she do to keep it? The sins of the past come back to haunt Doc Ford and his old friend Tomlinson in the thrilling new novel “Salt River” by Randy Wayne White. “The Dark Corners of the Night” by Meg Gardiner is a new UNSUB novel. Scotland Yard detective Ian Rutledge is assigned one of the most baffling investigations of his career—a cold murder case with an unidentified victim and a cold trail with few clues to follow in “A Divided Loyalty” by Charles Todd. “Dear Edward” by Ann Napolitano is a transcendent coming-of-age story, a multidimensional portrait of an unforgettable cast of characters, and a breathtaking illustration of all the ways a broken heart learns to love again. One summer morning, twelve-year-old Edward Adler, his beloved older brother, his parents, and 183 other passengers board a flight in Newark headed for Los Angeles. Halfway across the country, the plane crashes. Edward is the sole survivor. Edward’s story captures the attention of the nation, but he struggles to find a place in a world without his family. But then he makes an unexpected discovery—one that will lead him to the answers of some of life’s most profound questions: When you’ve lost everything, how do you find the strength to put one foot in front of the other? How do you learn to feel safe again? How do you find meaning in your life?

There is always something going on at the library. Check us out on Facebook or look us up on our website at http: http://www.blainecountylibrary.org for up to date information about what’s going on!
