When the first academic semester ended on January 15 for students in the Harlem School District, officials at Harlem Elementary School put all of their ROARing students names into a drawing to see which of the prestigious students might win additional honors. Janice Gilham, Computer Technology Assistant who typically provides the news of these winners, released the names of the First Semester ROARing Students of the 2020-2021 school year.

In sharing her report, Gilham wrote: "Everyone knows what a challenge students have faced in the past months, so it is no small feat that this elite group was able to continue to follow and exhibit the qualities that make ROARing Lil' Wildcats so special."

One student was chosen from each grade level, kindergarten through sixth grade, who continually modeled the ROAR characteristics: Respectful, Organized, Always safe, and Responsible. Each winner was presented with a large, decorated box full of goodies and prizes in appreciation for their diligence and hard work exerted over the first half of the school year.

The following students earned the First Semester ROARing Lil' Wildcat titles: Kindergarten – Brodie Plumage; First Grade – Walter Doney; Second Grade – Shadyn Speak Thunder; Third Grade – Buck Guerrero; Fourth Grade – Xander Young; Fifth Grade – Mila Wing; Sixth Grade – Madison Mount.
