'Beeters Qualify Three More Golfers for State C Tournament

L-R: Senior Erik Pula, sophomore Morgan Friede and senior Ethan MacLeod are the three latest Sugarbeeters to qualify for the State C Golf Tournament in Bozeman next month.

The Chinook Sugarbeeter boys and girls golf teams were in Malta on Saturday and then in Fort Benton on Monday. In the process the team qualified three more individuals for the Montana Class State Golf Tournament next month in Bozeman at the Riverside Country Club, May 18-19.

On Saturday in Malta senior Erik Pula signed his scorecard for an even 100, matching the qualifying score exactly. Monday in Fort Bent it was senior Ethan Macleod punching his ticket to the state tournament after shooting a season best round of 92. MacLeod and Pula join junior Braden Eoff as boys qualifiers.

For the girls it was sophomore Morgan Friede putting together two outstanding rounds of golf to qualify for the state tournament. On Saturday Friede shot a 111 to eclipse the qualifying standard of 120. Monday in Fort Benton she scored a 106.

The girls were the top team in Fort Benton with a team score of 308. Senior Hailey Bell shot a 97 while senior Crystal Hofer fired off a round of 105. Both have already qualified for the state tournament. The boys finished second in Fort Benton with Eoff scoring a 100 and Pula a 103 for a team score of 295.
