Check out the gardening books we have on display at the library. Time to start thinking about getting busy in the dirt!

The Book Challenge for May is to read a book set in Montana. We have a great selection in our Montana fiction section. Be sure to let the library know if you have completed the April challenge so you can be entered to win a gift certificate from a local business.

Two new WWII novels are ready for check out. “The Kitchen Front” is by Jennifer Ryan, the author of “The Chilbury Ladies’ Choir.” With the war on, the BBC radio is holding a cooking contest to help housewives with food rationing. For four very different women, winning the competition would present an important chance to change their lives.

“The Paris Library” by Janet Skeslien Charles tells the story of Odile Souchet who has the dream job of working at the American Library in Paris. When the Nazis occupy the city she joins the Resistance with the best weapons she has: books. In Montana, 1983, Lily is a teenager looking for adventure. The mystery of her elderly neighbor from Paris intrigues her. Lily finds they share a love of language and a dark secret that connects them.

A new Inspector Rutledge mystery is “A Fatal Lie” by Charles Todd. Two thrillers include “The Power Couple” by Alex Berenson and “The Sanatorium” by Sarah Pearse.

Fredrik Backman’s latest book is “Anxious People.” This is a “charming novel abut a crime that never took place, a would-be-bank robber who disappears into thin air, and eight extremely anxious strangers who find they have more in common than they ever imagined.”

Summer Reading will soon be here! This year’s theme is “Tails & Tales” and explores the world of animals. Children ages 0 through grade 8 are invited to register beginning June 1 at the library. Children can earn prizes for books read. Storytime in the Park will be held every Tuesday, 10 A.M. for the younger children and their parents/caregivers starting June 1. Elementary students are welcome to a special sidewalk event every other week outside the library beginning June 2, 1 P.M. Teens and adults can participate by entering their name into a drawing for each book read and a chance to win a $50 Visa gift card. Contact the library for more information.
