Chinook, Harlem swimmers in mid season form at Glasgow Kiwanis Swim Meet

The Chinook Lions 8 and Under Bantam Girls 100 Meter Relay team waits in the heat tent for their upcoming race. Relay team members include Pepper Harwood, Piper Skoyen, Mariah Huravitch and Harper Matkin.
The Chinook Lions and Harlem Swim Teams are reaching the halfway point of the Montana Federation of Swimmers Summer Swim Season, and both teams look to be in good shape heading into the second half of the season.
This past weekend the swimmers were in Glasgow competing in the two day Invitational and both performed exceptionally well. The Lions had two individual High Point award winners in Katie Tilleman (11-12 Girls) and Bryce Elliot (11-12 Boys). The Harlem Swim Team also captured two individual High Point awards, the first going to Shayne Stiffarm (13-14 Boys) and the second to Andrew Rasmussen (15-19 Boys).
Tilleman captured the junior girls High Point with a stellar performance in the Glasgow pool. She began her quest by winning the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of :31.47. Tilleman added another first place a bit later with a win in the 50 Meter Backstroke, touching them all in :41.93. She later concluded her swim by winning the 50 Meter Backstroke with a time of :38.69.
Elliot claimed top honors in the junior boys High Point race by sweeping all three of his individual events as well. Bryce started the day by winning the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of :33.45. He later won the 100 Meter Freestyle, completing the four lengths of the pool in 1:16.77. Elliot's day concluded with a win in the 200 Meter Freestyle with an effort of 2:52.82.
Shayne Stiffarm was the Intermediate Boys High Point winner, claiming the top spot on all three of his individual races. First up Stiffarm claimed victory in the 200 Meter Individual Medley, completing all four disciplines in 2:51.95. Next Shayne was a champion in the 100 Meter Breaststroke, finishing in 1:25.63. Stiffarm completed the trifecta by winning the 50 Meter Butterfly in :30.58.
Rasmussen added another High Point trophy to his collection, winning the Senior Boys division award by sweeping all three of his events. Andrew first took home the top spot in the 50 Meter Freestyle beating everyone to the wall with a time of :27.68. Rasmussen added a win in the 100 Meter Freestyle about an hour later with an effort of 1:01.99. He concluded his weekend swim by winning the 400 Meter Freestyle in5:21.50.
Other individual winners for the Chinook Lions included Daniel Tilleman in the Intermediate Boys (13-14) 50 Meter Freestyle, :28.22 and the 100 Meter Freestyle, 1:06.66. Brockton Elliot won the 13-14 Boys 100 Meter Butterfly with a time of 1:15.83.
Harlem's Ciana Johnson won the 9-10 Girls 100 Meter Freestyle with an effort of 1:24.75. Alaura Hawley was the winner of the 13-14 Intermediate Girls 200 Meter Individual Medley with a time of 3:12.65.
The Chinook Lions and Harlem Swim Teams will head to Roundup this weekend for another two day swim meet. Good Luck Swimmers!
