Blaine County Library

October 20, 2021

Blaine County Library Board of Trustees will hold their regular monthly meeting Monday, October 25th at 4:30 p.m.

During the month of October, we are having a "Spooktacular" Book Sale! We will give you a big bag and you can put as many books as you can fit in it for $3.00. We also have boxes and boxes of Harlequin romances we will make a deal on, and Kelsey says she will load them in your car!

There will not be LEGO Club or an early out movie this week, due to the MEA Conference. The library will have shorter hours this week due to scheduling issues. We will be open Thursday October 21st and Friday October 22nd from 1:00 to 5:00. We apologize for the inconvenience.

We are looking for anyone who may have knowledge about coding and/or business experience who can spare an hour a week during the school year. Even if you can't commit to the full school year, we can work around your schedule. Training for the Code Girls United program is scheduled for October 28th. The time of the training is not set yet but will be in the afternoon starting at 3:30 or 4:00. It is a 90-minute training. Anyone who might be willing and able to teach a class or two should plan to attend the training. We are planning to start Code Girls United at the library November 3, 2021, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. You can get more information about the program on their website codegirlsunited.org.

The registration is open to girls in grades 4 through 8 and between the ages of ten and fourteen. Girls must be no older than 14 on August 1, 2022. The program is free for girls and all materials will be supplied. There will be an opportunity to compete in National competitions and be awarded scholarships. Girls can register online now by going to codegirlsunited.org. On the home page under the registration tab, select Chinook and fill out the form. If you are interested in helping or know someone who could help us, please call the library at 357-2932 or send an email to blcolib@itstriangle.com.

We have Killers and Thrillers on our display table for the month of October. We have several new books available that will be on the display table. In "The Burning" by Jonathan and Jesse Kellerman, things get personal for Deputy Coroner Clay Edison when murder hits close to home. An online dating match turns into a deadly cat-and-mouse game in "Last Girl Ghosted" by Lisa Unger. "Foul Play" by Stuart Woods is a new Stone Barrington thriller. It's ten years of marriage, ten years of secrets, and an anniversary Adam and Amelia Wright will never forget in "Rock Paper Scissors" by Alice Feeney. We also have a display of ghost stories
