The Chinook Sugarbeeters concluded Homecoming week by welcoming the Fort Benton Longhorns to town this past Friday night. The Northern C matchup between these two rivals kept everyone entertained start to finish. The Longhorns scored on their first two plays from scrimmage and built an early lead that would hold up to a valiant Sugarbeeter rally. Freshman Ryan Bell tossed a pair of Touchdowns, freshman Jameson Nordboe and senior Jackson Nordboe each caught touchdowns. Junior Landon Beck and sophomore Owen Davies each scored on the ground while junior Kohen Sullivan returned a kickoff for a score.

The Longhorns found paydirt on their first play from scrimmage scoring on a 65 yard scamper to go up 6-0. Fort Benton added another score and two-point conversion to seize the momentum. The Longhorns scored once more to lead 20-0 at the end of one quarter of action. The 'Beeters held their heads high and continued to fight. The 'Beeters would outscore the Longhorns the final three quarters, but that first quarter deficit would prove too much to overcome.

Bell hit Jackson Nordboe for a 20 yard pick up on fourth down to put the 'Beeters in scoring position. Beck would punch it in for a one-yard scoring run. Beck added the conversion run to get the 'Beeters on the board, cutting the Longhorns lead to 20-8. The Longhorns quickly regained momentum, returning the ensuing kickoff for another score. Fort Benton would score again before the half, taking a 36-8 lead into halftime.

Fort Benton would add to their lead early in the third quarter extending their lead to 42-8. The Beeters recovered a fumble deep in Longhorn territory. Bell connected with Jackson Nordboe, moving the ball to the five-yard line. Bell then connected with Jameson Nordboe on a 5-yard Touchdown strike. Beck added the conversion run to make the score 42-16.

On the 'Beeters very next possession, Bell found Jackson Nordboe for a quick 45-yard scoring pitch and catch. Beck added another conversion run to make the score 42-24 heading into the fourth quarter of action. The Longhorns scored first in the fourth quarter to push their lead to 48-24. Another Longhorn score dashed any hopes of a 'Beeter comeback, but that didn't mean they were done fighting.

Sullivan returned the Longhorns kickoff 73 yards to the house late in the contest, making the score 54-30. Davies capped of the scoring with a nice 36-yard touchdown run, providing the final points of a 54-36 Longhorns win. Chinook falls to 1-3 with the loss.

Head coach, Mike Jones had this to say following the game, "I thought the kids played hard and battled back from an early deficit and showed toughness. We are starting to get some guys to click together on the field. Fort Benton is a physical team, and it took us a little bit to adjust but then I think we started getting physical and proved to ourselves that we can be a physical team as well."
