Today the library staff and the Friends of the Library are hosting the first “Socializing Seniors” gathering from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. in the library meeting room. Each Wednesday senior citizens are invited to join their friends for a time of coffee, visiting, cards, games, snacks and more! The library will provide the coffee and you provide the fun.

The library board of trustees will hold their monthly meeting today, January 24, 4:30 P.M. in the library meeting room.

There will be no After School Squad today. Lego Club will meet , Thursday, January 25 from 4:00 – 5:00 P.M. Storytime for children ages 0-5 and their parents/caregivers will be held Friday, January 26 from 10:00 – 11: 00 A.M.

The Book Challenge for January is to read a book with a three-word title.

The second annual “Love Chocolate…Love Your Library!” event will be held Monday, February 12, 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. to celebrate February Love Your Library month. This family friendly event will feature chocolate temptation tastings, a photo booth, a decorated cakes contest with winners chosen by popular voting, chocolate fondue, crafts, and vendors selling chocolate confections. Vendors are asked to reserve their table now as there are only six tables available. We are looking for people to make and decorate cakes in Valentine’s Day or Love Your Library themes. We also need people to make chocolate cookies, bars, or mini cupcakes. If you would like to help out in any way please contact the library.

Two new Black Harbor mysteries by Hannah Morrissey are “The Widowmaker” and “When I’m Dead.”

“The Secret” is the new Jack Reacher novel by Lee Child and Andrew Child.

Jessica Knoll is the author of “Bright Young Women,” a story inspired by the real-life sorority targeted by America’s first celebrity serial killer.

A new historical fantasy is “What the River Knows” by Isabel Ibanez.

Other new titles include “Veil of Doubt” by Sharon Virts and “Betrayal” by Phillip Margolin.

Remember the library has an on-going used book sale in the Reading Room. Hardbacks are twenty-five cents and paperbacks are ten cents.
