    In response to dry, warm weather that could increase the danger of human-caused wildfires, under the recommendations of county officials, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks fishing access sites (FASs) and wildlife management areas (WMAs) are now under Stage 1 Fire Restrictions in Phillips co. and on Brush Lake State Park in Sheridan co.     Sixteen seniors from Blaine County recently spent a day in Fort Benton, the town known as the "Birthplace of Montana™." The day-long bus trip was organized through the Chinook Senior Center and was open to any adult in the county.     Helena, Mont., July 30, 2018 – The Montana Community Foundation, Inc. (MCF) announces the opening of a grant cycle to benefit the communities and residents of Blaine County. Grants will be made from the Blaine County Community Foundation Fund, established at MCF by Warren Ross in 1997. Financial support for this grant program also comes from the Ross 87 Ranch Endowment Fund, established by Warren Ross as well.   • Chinook's Zion Lutheran celebrates completed revitalization of church building

    The first Lutheran service ever held in Chinook occurred in June, 1904 and was held in the Methodist church building. Ten years later the current Zion Lutheran Church building, at the corner of Illinois and 8th Street, was dedicated.     Rosalie M. Robinson, 93, of Billings, passed away Thursday August 16 at St. John’s Garden Court, where she had resided since April of 2012. Rosalie enjoyed over 6 years of excellent care that the staff of St. John’s Lutheran Ministries had provided her. She was born October 30, 1924, to Max and Iola Blatt in Chinook, MT.     This week we have had a problem with some power loss that caused the air conditioning, the convection oven, dishwasher and hot water heater to not work correctly. Finally, after Brett Zarn, Schine Electric and NorthWestern Energy co-examined the problem it was found that we will need to have meters replaced on the outside of the building. They have temporarily fixed the problems so everything is working as it should.
