    Last Sunday, September 10, the Chinook FFA Alumni held an FFA Recruitment Barbecue and Fundraising Trap Shoot at the shooting range on the Clear Creek Road. According to FFA Advisor Mitzi Cecrle, the event was a success with ten new members joining.     On August 23, the Blaine County Fair Foundation announced that it would be hosting the coyote hunt this year after the Chinook Volunteer Fire Department decided to give it up.     Students returning to classes in Chinook have been greeted by new faces and a few familiar ones in new roles. Four new teachers have been added to staff for the 2023-2024 school year, though the school is still looking to fill some roles.     Richard Wayne Messerly, 48, a construction worker, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Missoula, MT. September 7, 2023. Richard was born to Glenda Messerly and Ted Bell Sr. and stepmother Kathy Wing at Fort Belknap Hospital on May 9, 1975.     The Chinook Sugarbeeter Volleyball team only had one match this week. Saturday night they welcomed the Fairfield Eagles to town. Chinook has played four five set matches, and after falling in the first two they have certainly found a way to finish strong winning their last two.     The Lady Cats were back in action this past Thursday in Malta taking on the Malta M-ettes. On Friday the girls hosted the Conrad Cowgirls of the District 1B.     The Harlem Wildcats made the short trip west to Hoon Field in Chinook looking to even their season record at 2-2. The 'Beeters began the season with a pair of tough losses and were looking to pick up win number one.     All three Blaine County Cross Country teams were in action this past week as the ‘Beeters, Wildcats and Thunderbirds headed south to Lewistown to compete in the Fergus Invitational Cross Country Meet. The ‘Beeter contingent had 11 athletes in the field, 6 boys and five girls. Harlem brought 7 boys and one girl while Hays/Lodge Pole had 1 boy in the field.
