Chinook Senior Center

August 8, 2018

The annual meeting of the Chinook Senior Citizen Center was held last week with good attendance. We voted in Terry Grabofsky (incumbent) and Roger Fischer (incumbent), new inductee to the board is Ken Schubert. At the regular board meeting, following lunch, officers were voted in are President Tom Tilleman, Vice President Roger Fischer and Secretary/Treasurer, Rochelle Wohlschlager. Thank you to all the nominees who accepted the nomination and were on the ballot.

We are planning a senior trip August 15 to Fort Benton. Please call Marlane at the Sr Center for information and to sign up. The bus only holds 16, so this is on a first come first serve basis.

The Cancer Support Group will be meeting on August 21, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. A registered nurse from the Sweet Medical Center will be our speaker.

Here at the center we are in need of a wheelchair that can be used here and there. Wondering if anyone has one that is growing dust bunnies under it and would you consider leaving it here.

Last week activity winners are as follows: Bingo: Irene (Bingo) Gauthier; Scrabble: Not played; Shanghai Rummy: Don Durocher; Pinochle: Monday 30th Myrla McCoy was high and Virginia Olson was low. Friday, August 3, 2018 - High was Myrla McCoy and low was Don Durocher. We are playing more pinochle because we have more opportunity in the afternoons. Come join us.

Our activities start at 1 p.m. Our activities include Pinochle on Monday, Shanghai Rummy on Tuesday, Scrabble, Whist or other cards on Wednesday afternoons, Bingo on Thursday, and cards on Friday. Anyone is welcome to join us.

Anyone and everyone of any age are welcome to join us at the center for lunch and activities. There are no age requirements. Please feel free to join us. It is recommended that if you are joining us for lunch that you give us a call by 10 a.m. for the cook to have the ability to prepare enough food. The suggested donation for lunch is $5 for age 60 and over and $6 for under the age of 60.

We have several exercise machines that are available to anyone age 18 or older. Please come use them. There is a sign in notebook on the table and if you need instructions on how to run any of them we will be glad to help you out.

A bit of good news is that we will be restarting the homemade caramel/cinnamon rolls the week of Thursday, August 16. Please call by Tuesday morning with your orders so we know how much to prepare. The suggested donation for the rolls is $1 per roll.

Meals are served at noon with a suggested donation of $5 for seniors 60 and over, $6 for under 60. Please call by 10 a.m. for home delivery. Also, if you are coming to join us for lunch a 10 o’clock call for a heads up is much appreciated.
