On Monday, September 29, Meadowlark Elementary School held an awards assembly to recognize various students. Among the awards presented were a Recess Award, a Mountain Mover Award, and the Principal's Award. Students of the Month also received honors, as did students earning Accelerated Reader accolades. The Kuper Cemetery Board asked that the Journal publicly recognize and thank the Chinook Lions Club for both its historic and recent work toward improving the cemetery. After thirteen and a half years of employment at the Turner Post Office, Linda Hauge retired from her position with the United States Postal Service (USPS) on September 12.
