The tennis team finally got there season started last Friday, traveling to Fort Benton to take on Fort Benton and Boulder. On Saturday, the ‘Beeters hosted Chester J-I and Harlem. Against Fort Benton, Chinook went 10 – 1 in varsity matches and were 5 – 0 in varsity matches with Boulder. “Friday was a great day for tennis with no wind and temps in the 70s. Track and field teams across Blaine County were back at it again this past week. Girls and boys teams from Chinook, Harlem, Hays Lodgepole and Turner all completed in the annual Cal Wearley track and field meet this last Wednesday in Havre. All told 32 teams and more than 500 competitors took part in the largest track meet of the season as far as competition goes. Teams from the Class 'A', 'B' and 'C' ranks made up the field. Track and Field athletes from Chinook, Hays/Lodge Pole, Harlem and Turner met in Glasgow for the season opening Scottie Invitational as the 2016 Track and Field season gets underway. Several local athletes turned in solid individual efforts on the day with several individual winners and multiple placers. The Chinook Sugarbeeter golf team got their season off to a fast start this past weekend as the boys team won championships in Shelby and Fort Benton over the weekend and the girls recorded a team score that was good for second in Shelby. Chinook Sugarbeeter seniors Derek Bell and Kevin Young have made the commitment to play football at the next level. Bell will attend Montana State University-Northern this fall while Young will head to Wahpeton, North Dakota to play for the North Dakota State College of Science Wildcats.
