The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and its partner, A-Core Concrete Specialists, Inc., began a roadway improvements project on First Street (U.S. Highway 2) in Havre last May. The project will improve a 2.3-mile section of roadway from east of Ninth Avenue Northwest to 22nd Avenue North. Construction is expected to last about four months and cost $3.5 million. For the upcoming 2026-27 school year, Havre Public Schools will implement new activity fees for both high school and middle school students. Havre High School students will now pay $75 per student per activity, more than double the previous fee of $35 per student per activity in prior years. Thank you for the rescue I want to express my warm thanks to the Havre City Police for reaching out to a woman who was running for her life from domestic violence and stranded at the Havre Train Station on Saturday, July 25, 2026. The Police officer was kind and assisted this woman in obtaining a motel room, courtesy of the Salvation Army, to escape the heat and have a safe place to hide. Havre-Hill County Library is still open despite the disruptions caused by water damage this spring. Although the basement level is closed, librarians will pull books you request from the temporary storage area. Construction work, including concrete flooring, is scheduled to begin at the end of August or in early September.
