    The Chinook golf course sure looks good after the recent rainfall. The greens and fairways have come along making the course look as spectacular as ever.     The Sweet Home has greatly appreciated all the volunteer work provided by the most recent pair of Young Adult Volunteers (YAV's). Emma Kate and Brenden began volunteering at the Sweet Home in September of 2021. They helped at various times throughout the week, assisting with Bible Study, various activities and parties.     The Chinook Lions and Harlem Swim teams were back in the pool this past weekend, this time with a full week of practice under their belt. After beginning the season in Harlem the week before with just three days to prepare both teams were able to get into their normal rhythm heading into the weekend.     The 'Trailer' as it is referred to is where all the results are processed, saved and eventually uploaded to the Montana Federation of Swimmers Headquarters. There are two divisions in the Montana Federation of Swimmers organization, East and West. Each has its own trailer that is maintained and staffed by each meets host.     The Montana Federation of Swimmer summer season kicked off this past Saturday and Sunday as Harlem hosted the first meet on the schedule. A total of 12 teams and 130 swimmers were on hand for what was a very successful meet for our Blaine County Swimmers.     The 2022 Bear Paw Marathon took place this past Saturday and a number of Blaine County Runners took to the course. Five competed in the full marathon, just two runners completed the half marathon and 13 women and six men ran the 5K. Ages ranged from 5-62 and represented Chinook, Harlem, Hays and Zurich.     Memorial Day was celebrated on Monday with gatherings happening across Blaine County in private memorials or at larger social gatherings.     Livestock losses due to predators has skyrocketed in the past 15 years. In 2007 the state legislature began the Livestock Loss Program. Early on the program compensated ranchers for their losses due to Wolves and Grizzly Bears and claims were mostly filed in the western part of the state. In 2019 Mountain Lions were added to the program's compensation annual budget. The compensation fund budgeted for livestock losses due to predators now stands at $300,000.
